About Brackenfold

A practice built around the people doing the work.

Brackenfold exists to help organisations build the internal structures that let their people operate well — not just when things are straightforward, but when the decisions are harder.

Our Story

How Brackenfold came to be

Brackenfold began from a straightforward observation: a lot of organisations in Thailand — particularly those that have grown quickly or recently expanded their teams — find themselves operating without a clear shared sense of how decisions get made or how new people are brought into the organisation well.

The founders had spent years inside organisations at various stages of growth, and noticed that the difficulties teams encountered were rarely about talent or effort. More often, the problem was structural — unwritten rules, undefined responsibilities, and onboarding processes that existed only in someone's memory.

From that starting point, Brackenfold was built to offer a small number of well-defined services that address these gaps directly, without the overhead of a large consultancy and without pushing organisations toward a pre-built framework that wasn't designed with their particular context in mind.

The practice is based in Chiang Mai, in the Nimman area, and works with organisations across northern Thailand and further afield. The work is structured, the fees are transparent, and the aim is always to leave the client with something they can use independently.

Our Mission

What we're here to do

The mission at Brackenfold is uncomplicated: help organisations build internal structures that hold up when things get busy, when teams grow, and when the people who used to carry institutional knowledge in their heads move on.

We do this through a small set of focused services — facilitated workshops on decision-making, bespoke onboarding programme design, and standalone facilitation for sessions teams need help running. Each service is scoped carefully, delivered personally, and finished with a written output the client owns entirely.

We are not generalists who offer everything. We do a few things that matter to the organisations we work with, and we do them with care.

"Structure is the work."

The decisions made about how an organisation works — who decides what, how new people are welcomed, how teams discuss difficult topics — shape the experience of everyone inside it. That's not peripheral work. It's the work.

How We Work

Our professional standards

Scoping before committing

Every engagement begins with a scoping call, at no charge, to establish whether the service is a fit for what the client actually needs. If it isn't, we say so.

Written agreements

The scope of each engagement, including what will be delivered and what is outside scope, is set out in writing before work begins.

Confidentiality as standard

Information shared during an engagement — including what comes up in interviews or workshop discussions — remains confidential. NDA arrangements are available on request.

Client ownership of outputs

All written deliverables belong entirely to the client. Brackenfold retains no rights to use, reproduce, or reference client materials in other work.

Transparent pricing

Fees are fixed per service and published clearly. There are no escalating or variable charges for work within the agreed scope.

Data protection

Personal data collected through our website and during engagements is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable Thai data protection requirements.

Our Approach

Values that shape the work

Brackenfold operates from a small number of principles that shape how every engagement is run, regardless of its scope or size. The first is that the consultant's role is to facilitate, not to prescribe. When a team works through a decision framework or a facilitated session, the conclusions they reach are their own. The consultant prepares, asks useful questions, and keeps the conversation moving — but the team does the actual thinking.

The second principle is that deliverables should be durable. An onboarding handbook that sits in a folder and becomes outdated within six months has not done its job. We design outputs with maintenance in mind: editable formats, clear ownership, and plain language that doesn't require a consultant to interpret.

The third is scope discipline. There is a tendency in consulting to expand work beyond what the client actually needs, because larger engagements generate more revenue. Brackenfold works against this tendency deliberately. If a half-day facilitation addresses what needs addressing, that is what we recommend — not a longer programme.

These principles are relevant because organisations in Thailand — particularly those in Chiang Mai's growing professional and creative sectors — often have specific, bounded challenges. They are not broken. They need a hand with one or two things, delivered well, with a defined endpoint. That is the kind of work Brackenfold is built to do.
